0049 Section 2, Chapter 20 Yoga Vasistha

Direct experience is the basis of all proofs.

We're not being taught something. We're being directed to something -- the field or stream of experiencing. Then we get caught up in notions of who is experiencing and what they are experiencing. This is 'manifestation'. The experiencing is the substratum. It is what is really happening. This is the reality, the experiencing intelligence. It "shines in its own light". At this point even the spirit of enquiry becomes redundant.
