2009 Subaru Forester Traction Control in action. In hilly countries like Grenada you don't have to go off road to find All Wheel Drive and Traction Control usefull. Notice that the right rear wheel is completely off the ground. Without Traction Control the vehicle would not make such a turning climb at such low controlled speed. Very capable machine.

  • If it does it's not much as I doubt it would be able to climb this hill. In this scenario it is trying to avoid power loss through wheels off the ground ( left front may also be off the ground). It is also important to note that for the Traction Control to work you need to keep on the gas and may even have to press all the way and give time for it to work. Many drivers if inexperienced will back off too soon and have to start the process over.

  • Which part of the world are you? I would imagine that Traction Control would be standard on an XT. It is here in my market. cbwin3 mentioned something about a limited slip diff on the auto but the info I have says nothing about that. Acrtually Traction Control does the same job as a limited slip preventing power loss in a wheel without traction. Was the Traction Control light flashing during the situation? What did you do with the gas pedal when the wheels spun?

  • It is 2.0L but automatic. Traction control is standard on all models in our market as well as VDSC and 8 airbags.

  • I have a 2009 Subaru Legacy, when the traction control light is blinking, it doesn't appear to cut the power. Is it the case for your car too?

  • My XT, MT 2009 can't do that... it just spins

  • Yeah I know thx :)

The automatic version has rear limited slip diffrential?

All these questions just because i'm planning to buy it and I wanna understand some difference between the manual and the automatic version

  • Finally one video showing tc on this car :)

Is it 2.0L with manual transmission?
