I had the hots for her as a kid. I couldn't get this episode out of my head..

No, Circe defeats Ulysses not knowing that he is Ulysses. Ulysses who she considered to be equal to her. She offered him to release all slaves and hand over a map to his comrade with the way to Earth, if he will stay with her. But Hermes could reveal Circe's desire to defy the gods and the gods defeated her. In the wake of the battle she gave Ulysses and his crew enough time to escape but the map was lost. At the end you see her at the Olymp where all gods have assemble to pass her judgement.
