The reason she didn't win was because Jordan Sparks was very young and all her classmates stayed on the phone probably all night.

Everyone thought she was going to win anyway, so no one bothered to vote. With Katherine McPhee, in the beginning she developed a very obsessed and devoted fan base. When she had some crappy performances later on, she still made it to the finale because her fans thought, "If I don't vote, she'll be gone!" No one thought that with Melinda; it's called complacency, never a good thing in a democracy!

It's obvious why she didn't win. I predicted it from the very beginning. I followed Season 5 very closely and saw the way that Americans vote. Basically, it comes down to having obsessed fans or standing out personality-wise. She does actually stand out as having a great personality, but not to the obsessive-compulsive AI voter-types. She's not the kind of person you obsess over so much as deeply appreciate the beauty there. She's not that kind of charismatic. Plus, she was taken as a given.

That girl can take you to the mountain top with her performances! Huge loss. A major talent like Melinda steps up, and is swept away, in a stupid voting competition that fails time after time to pick the best. Did she not get an album contract after the show???!!!!

@MelindasBackups I don't like the choice of songs that whoever was in charge of producing for her. It does her no justice!

@dancinonasmoothedge For her first album, Melinda had to cover songs that were in her label's catalog. For her upcoming second album, she co-wrote most of the songs and says they will be more feisty. Maybe you will like the second album better.
