In this street theater performance of "Pass the Buck", organizers from the War Resisters League tie together the issues of budget cuts in New York City with wars and resistance to occupation abroad. Our city, state and federal officials want to pass off responsibility for job loss and shredded social nets. This is all while banks get massive bailouts, and those same banks turn around and invest in military contracts to make cluster bombs.*
But the buck stops here! We say: Tax dollars for social services, not war! Troops out now! Tax the Rich!
Thanks to the people from Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens, and volunteers Brian Pickett and Sky Hall for being part of our show! And to the amazing coalition of New Yorkers that came out on May 12!
*For example, from the 2007 to 2009, Goldman Sachs, Bank America and JP Morgan, HSBC, invested 657 million in Textron and Lockheed Martin to make cluster bombs, which have been banned by most countries.
A humorous rendition of a serious problem.
