Obama Denounces Dishonest "Death Panel" Rumors at Town Hall

At a town hall meeting in Grand Junction, CO, President Obama hears from a gentleman who is concerned about how "misinformation" is "hurting" health care reform as well as "dividing our country". The person added, "I think we all know where it's coming from," before breaking into, "Okay, I've got to watch what I'm saying."

Obama explains that it's "not easy" passing such a massive plan, and using Sen. Charles Grassley and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's criticisms of President Obama's health care proposal as an example, says, "In terms of misinformation, because there's no perfect solution... you can have an honest disagreement... What you can't do - or, you can, but you shouldn't do - is start saying things like, we want to set up death panels to pull the plug on Grandma. I mean, come on... When you make a comment like that... that's simply dishonest... The notion that somehow I ran for public office, or members of Congress are in this so they can go around pulling the plug on Grandma?"

But earlier this month the administration seemingly flouted the will of Congress by quietly issuing a new Medicare regulation that "may include advance directives to forgo aggressive life-sustaining treatment," The New York Times reported.
