  • Thanks mate

  • 100lb Jinki (I think that is how it is spelt) Cheers

  • Main line used is 50lb Finns Braid.

    Cheers

  • The difference is that mono leaders are more abbrasive resistant than braid. The leader would be a minimum of 50lbs.

    Cheers.

  • Hi Unplugged,

You are correct in your question, however, braid has no stretch and by adding a mono leader it is less likley to "pull" the hooks from the fishe's mouth. Having said that, I am not really a big fan of leaders (one more link that can fail) and only use them when there are a lot of rocks around that could severe your braid.

    Cheers!

  • Hi Mate, I am not bragging but that knot landed me a Murray Cod around the 90 pound mark and he put up one hell of a fight. I know King fish are real bruisers and dirty fighters but would be confident to say that the knot on my youtube site would hold if tied correctly.

Best of luck and thanks for the comments.

  • nice video m8, clear cut and to the point, looks like a top knot too, thanks... ''d doubler'', i love it, haha

  • @steeb12310 i think more importantly it stops the lead braking/flying off when compressing a rod for distance casting and doesnt hit/kill somone, : P

  • Leaders are an insurane against braid getting cut on rough surfaces but also play the role as a shock absorber. Takes stress of the hooks and cushions head shakes from fish etc. If tied correctly there should be nil chance of knot failure. Besides the drag setting would be far lower than any force that could be applied to a knot to break it....A cear leader also takes away from most visible braids..thanx

  • what type of leader do you use

  • what type of main line do you use

  • @murraycod1965

Thanks for your response. To comment on your statement "rocks around that could sever your braid.." What's the difference? Suppose I do have a mono/flouro leader, what does it matter the line will sever, I would have lost the hook, bait, leader.. braid or mono? It's lost.
