At day's end on Sunday (April 11), as I was leaving the cottage on Eagle Lake, the beach became alive with strange sounds like breaking crystal glass. The majority of the lake was still ice covered. This ringing sound became louder by the second & when I glanced over toward the end of the beach, I did not believe what I was witnessing & quickly grabbed my digital camera & started to video. It now sounded like thunder. Unfortunately, I was too far away from the action & could not zoom in close enough. A lab pup also helped me lose my footing. When the last ice crystals stopped flowing, all became silent in an instant. It was the most beautiful phenomenon of Mother Nature I've witnessed here up north. It looked very much like lava spewing out of a volcano. I hope to see this 'dance of ice' again in my lifetime. This is my first attempt uploading a video, so don't be too hard on me. Can anyone explain how this happens?
