Armed Citizen - West Valley, Utah

When would-be burglars attempted to enter the home of a West Valley Man who had been robbed just weeks earlier, he armed himself with a shotgun and confronted the intruders, who then fled. The homeowner gave chase, and helped a nearby police officer apprehend one of the perpetrators. It was then that the man realized he was dressed only in his underwear.

im all for gun control, but people are interpreting the second amendment all wrong, it was made so that american citizens would be able to mobilize into militias to fight off possible future invasions from the british

The second amendment is a reaffirmation of a right given by God to mankind. That right being to protect oneself, family and anyone threatened. However, it does not stop there. As far as our founding fathers were concerned the second amendment was placed in the Bill of Rights to protect us from tyrannical governments as well as the need for personal self protection.

It has been the liberal media and courts that have worked diligently to redefine and limit these rights that are God given.

@uriel005 actually every male citizen age 18 to 37, and females already in the military are the militia. So if guns were only meant for the militia why were guns not banned for private ownership 200 years ago.....why did it take two centuries to be an issue?

@scoves9484 second amendment was not for the purpose of armed citizens for the sake of their personal defense. It was intended to have a militia ready for invasion. By the context of the ammendment depending on how one looks at it can mean hey militias are now useless because the guns people can own are useless against tanks and air craft. Or allow people to buy rpg's and other heavy weapons. so yeah good job on interpreting one of your basic rights. Wait for your lawyer for legal issues.
