Here is the script of our video:

WENDY (mom): Here is our 2011 Smart Creativity Contest entry entitled "A True LEGO Education."

LEGOs: Very versatile. Simple plastic bricks or complex robots. Used as toys and for teaching. Hi, I am a homeschooling mom of four and my son Daniel would like to show you how LEGOs, LEGO Education and LEGO robotics have shaped his life.

DANIEL (student): It all started as an ordinary love for a toy, but plain bricks were not enough. When at a 4-H event, my family saw this cool robot doing missions on a LEGO field. We were hooked! We joined up with our local FIRST LEGO League team and had a blast learning about engineering concepts while having fun with LEGOs. We learned about teamwork, design, research, troubleshooting, programming, and so much more. My mom became a coach and we incorporated LEGO robotics right into our daily curriculum.
After I graduated from FLL, I joined my mom as a mentor to the FLL team on which my siblings still participate. LEGOs and robotics remain a part of our daily school life.
Since the LEGO level was so fun and educational, I joined a local FRC team where I learned about 3D animation using professional level software. In my spare time, I am now creating a LEGO Agents-themed short film. This fits in perfectly with my background in making stop-action LEGO movies. Here is a sample of some of the stop-action work I've done.
(Stop-action animation inserted here.)
The Wisconsin State Fair has asked me to be part of an innovative team creating our own NXT competition for 2012.
Because of my passion for LEGOs, I am studying to become an engineer. LEGOs led me to FIRST LEGO League, which then led to FIRST Robotics Competition, which has now led to a pursuit in a career in engineering.
Thanks, LEGO Education, for inspiring me to start down the path toward a promising career!
