From the day that the Priesthood was taken from the earth to the winding-up scene of all things, every man and woman must have the certificate of Joseph Smith, junior, as a passport to their entrance into the mansion where God and Christ are -- I with you and you with me. I cannot go there without his consent" - Brigham Young. Journal of Discourses 7:289. Also cited in Ensign, June, 1994.

  • The church is the Body of believers in Christ, therefore, real believers do bear his name. Within the Christian (not mormon) faith, we have a foundation of scripture and the apostles spoke out of scripture, organized or not, Christianity does not believe that there are multiple gods, like mormonism, Christianity does not believe in, nor teach eternal progression like mormons do, Christianity with the Bible teaches salvation by grace, not works like mormonism does...the list goes on.

  • lds members dont see nothing wrong with Mr youngs statement about joseph, we have 2 understand their minds are distorted and by default accept everything the church says no matter how outregeous or ridiculous its in their system. we say grace but they figure christians dont do works, we just dont boast and prioritice it as the MEAN 4salvation, faith grace & works go 2gether they just dont get it. A community at danger 4 doing so much good works.

  • Joseph Smith wrote fictional stories...did they not realize this? lol

  • @54v115 you seem to seek to put yourself up by continually degrading my comments. We also teach of grace, charity, faith, etc. I have already told you our belief in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, without Him our lives are meaningless all I said is that we must also obey God's commandments and if we do we show our love. Why do you persist in insulting me personally it is most unChrist-like.

You speak down to me simply telling me the same things I already stated but in your own words.

  • @AquaRacer8 - do you have the ability to appreciate the significance and subtleties of what is being said? I claim nothing, Jesus said we are saved only through Him. He also said love me with all you are and love your fellow man. He never said by your works you will be saved and i'll do the rest. Works are nothing to boast of, only faith in Him and by His Grace can anyone be saved. Charity is private and quiet. Why are you struggling with that? Your stifled interpretation doesn't serve you.

  • @54v115 interesting you use words like young, inexperienced, incomplete, misguided yet you claim at least it would appear on the fac that you do not believe in following the teachings of Jesus Christ yourself...you claim we are saved by grace, which we also believe, but apparently we don't need to actually obey His commandments...remember Christ said "If you love me keep my commandments"...I don't believe this is up to any interpretation. What we actually do does matter, Christ said so Himself.

  • @AquaRacer8 - you sound quite young and inexperienced and as such, you have an incomplete and misguided understanding of Christian (Biblical) doctrine. Mormons doctrine states that you are saved after all you can do (works) and Jesus will do the rest should he need to. Christian doctrine states there is NOTHING you can do, no works, no bribes, nothing other than be saved by the grace of God and faith in our Lord. To accept His free gift and believe in Him.
