@adabsurdum55 I've gone over your comments to me here, but can't see what you are referring to, are you sure it was something here/to me?
Anyway, there is *ZERO* evidence for jesus existing as either a magic son of god bloke, or as you put it a normal dude. For somebody as important as this, with all the great record keepers there, do you not think this is odd?
@MexSanukk Oh, and when I say, "confirming the Christ event," I mean confirming that Jesus was a real dude in first-century Palestine. Of course the resurrection is unique to the Gospels, synoptic and others.
@adabsurdum55 verse 39: "...whoever loses his life for my sake will save it." Jesus isn't telling his followers to create conflict. He's saying conflicts are bound to happen, and it won't end well for you. Remember, Mark is writing to a persecuted group. His theme is something like, "Stay strong. You can't understand Jesus' messiahship apart from his death, just as you can't understand discipleship apart from yours." Let's be sure we stay contextual.
@adabsurdum55 (cont.) ten years after the events described therein (MUCH sooner than any of Homer's epics and other ancient works). 5) Paul's letter do reference OT books as well as Jesus' teachings regarding the Eucharist. 6) And we have secular, extra-textual sources confirming the Christ event. 7) Glad to see you picked Matt 10:34 because a few verses later Jesus reveals that it is his followers who will be the victims of such conflicts, killed because of their belief. From...
@adabsurdum55 1) So I have authoritative evidence that suggests I CAN use faith and trust interchangeably, yet you say I shouldn't trust that evidence? 2) I CAN say Eric Harris killed in the name of atheism for reasons that I have provided (he was asking folks if they were Christians before killing them!). 3) Not sure where you got the "Bible has supernatural powers" claim (which, honestly, makes me wonder the depth of your studies). 4) There's evidence suggesting Mark's Gospel was written as...
@adabsurdum55 Granted yes it is books rather than book. But how exactly can these authors be trusted when we don't even know who they are? The names were not attached until much later, and there is also much evidence there were written a great deal of time after the events they claim were meant to have taken place. They do not cite references, or have other proven works, but still we are expected to trust them implicitly.

@adabsurdum55 The point was how few people had been killed due to the Hammurabi code in comparison to non-believers of the bible.

@MexSanukk Oh. And several NT authors reference OT books, not just Paul. By the way, what point did I make for you? I didn't catch it.
