  • IMHO one mark of a truly great piece of music is that it sounds good with lots of schmaltz, or played more or less mechanically. It withstands the tests of time and interpretation. The Brahms violin concerto certainly does that...

    and I love all Brahms; David Oistrakh is a GIANT I adore his performances,

    thank you for your comments; I will listen again for the melodies .....

  • @AKSTERSKY hmm, perhaps it is because ive never played this song before, but i think it is because the concerto has so many melodies that it is so wonderful. i cant quite hone in on just one melody.
