wings have been one of the best teams for 20 years!!! we did watch alot of lame ass hockey to get to this point, but your in the D your gonnna see good hockey. with ozzy, vernon, hasek, even jimmy howard! we have had shitty goalies with good offense and DID NOT WIN, so a good goalie does make a BIG defference!! go back to pittsburgh and jack off sid da kid cause thats all he is good for anyway1!

As an LA fan I can't say that pleases me, but you gotta give credit where credit is due. What they were in the 80's sure as hell doesn't change their dominance and consistent success for like the past 15+ years

@MCHellraiser88 that's all very true. the Wings have been very successful for a long time now without having a truly elite goalie. however, you kind of missed the point. neither my pontikka's original comment or my reply mentioned anything about the quality of their goaltending, or it's effect on their success. his comment was to refer to the team by a nickname they earned back in the '80's when they were actually pretty awful. those days are long over, obviously.

@wingsfan977 Those statistics are because of the players, not the goalies. Don't get me wrong, Osgood, Hasek, and others are good NHL goalies, but almost any pro goalie would've won playing with that team. The Wings were simply phenomenal back then and the support NHL caliber players give to their goalies is insane as it is. The support those goalies received from one of the best teams ever to exist? I'm willing to say it was pretty bomb.
