Yes, there was an ethnic division between

some southern Greek states and the Macedonians

because the Macedonians were Dorian Greeks,

the Athenians were Pelasgians, and the other states

were Ionians. That's why there was an ethnic division

between Spartans and Athenians, because the Spartans were

also Dorian Greeks.
