Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa (1998) (English: Mother of 1084) is an Indian feature film that deals with the life of a woman who loses her son, a Naxalite, to the violence that is a result of his adopted ideology.
The film is directed by Govind Nihalani and is based on Magsaysay and Jnanpith award recipient Mahasweta Devi's Bengali novel Hajar Churashir Ma.

depicting the civilians in a negative way does not change fact that the Naxals are terrorists and should have long been done away with. In fact it is the failure of the state to act fully and in time that allowed them to grow. The Naxals intiated and instigated violence and it is the duty of the state to curb the violent.
