@vinnym24 Kind of line white privilege wouldn't you say? Or agriculture subsidies, or oil and gas subsidies. How about the fact that some of the fireman got the test answers from relatives already on the force, or get into a university not based on their grades but on a "legacy" scholarship? Whites makes rules like you can't vote unless your grandfather voted prior to 1865, when Blacks were slaves, and then blame Blacks for not voting while not recognizing the benefit they got from that law.

Rachel Maddow sounds so idiotic in this clip!!!

Affirmative action is just another form of welfare, it destroys those who it supposes to help. It's atrophy of the mind.

Pat Buchanan is a racist at heart and doesn't even know it.... However, Rachel Maddow went about this interview the wrong way... Sotomayor was an affirmative action appointment in a sense. I think Obama took the fact that she is a latino women into account when he made the choice. However, I also think she is extremely qualified, and Pat really doesn't offer any evidence to the contrary... he just whines about white male discrimination which really gets under Maddow's skin...

In a perfect world...
...This is a circus. It's a national disgrace. And from my standpoint, as a female Latin-American, it is a high-tech raping for uppity women who in any way deign to think for themselves, to have different ideas, and it is a message that unless you kowtow to an old order, this is what will happen to you. You will be raped, destroyed, caricatured by a committee of the U.S Senate rather than strewn across the floor.
Hope springs eternal...

Are you talking about hiring people who are unqualified? African Americans can be qualified just as much as other people. The question is "what do we do to stop discrimination?" Passing a law that says that nobody (absolutely nobody) should be discriminated/prefered based on race makes sense to me; and the government can enforce against discrimination, it should not be laissez-faire on the issue of discrimination of any kind.

Why can't there be a law that enforces agaisnt racial discrimination, period? Why do "whites" have to be discriminated against?
Pat you're right about this.
