Story of how Brad Lacey of Charlotte, NC (1932-1984) saved the Billy Graham home from the wrecking ball, while the Graham family had no interest in saving the house, they did agree to donate it if Brad could raise the funds to move it. Brad, raised the funds, and moved the home to Heritage USA and restored it. Lacey, died on the steps of the home as it was reconstructed in 1984.
The home today has been moved again, to the Graham Library, in Charlotte, NC. Brad's gravesite was not permitted to be moved to the new site by the Graham's. Instead he was moved to a cript. A tribute to Brad, promised by Franklin Graham has not been placed at the new site. Hopefully, this helps to keep his legacy alive.

  • What Hapeen to the house afer the fall of hertage usa

  • It is a shame the Graham's have not paid tribute to Brad, and for moving his grave. He was buried where he had the home restored. Franklin Graham promised Brad's wife, that the grave marker would be moved with the house, and a tribute to him with the story of his historic effort to save the home would be at the home's new location. It is now at the Graham Library, in Charlotte, NC. A promise not fulfilled.
