@zipacna1980 Absolutely agree with you. In fact, these documentaries, although featuring a few Soviet veterans, are Western made, which means, the anti-Soviet propaganda element is unavoidable. Furthermore: the Russians have not fully opened their huge files; only a part has been disclosed so far. And yeah, those Stingers are absurdly overrated.

@darkdanu89 well considering the US has killed 100,000 afghan civillians in an 10 year period while the Russians killed 2,000,000 afghan civillians in an 8 year period makes the US morally better than Russia by far.

@darkdanu89 The US didn't installed 'Republic of Afghanistan', they installed a totalitarian islamist state called the 'Islamic Republic of Afghanistan'. Also, we show US aggression against Afghan people. During the Soviet war, civilians died in AIRSTRIKES. During the American war, they are being SHOT. And the Soviets didn't "installed" the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan; it was founded after the revolution in 4/1978. The Soviet Army was involved in 12/1979 to support democratic government.

You're right, americans use now the same technique as the soviets. They installed a puppet regime, the Republic of Afghanistan, just as the soviets installed the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan.
Also they killed alot of civilians too, mostly with air strikes or rocket launchers/mortars, as it's a tactic for the americans to use air strikes or mortars against snipers, though after they hit the snipers escape and civillians die.
The americans aren't morraly better than the soviets.
