lol walter's universal existance is seriously skrewed up. Walternate wouldnt be as cynical as he is if it werent for Walters meddlings. At first I sympathized with Walternate but after he so unceremoniously did away with Broyles its kind of hard to not consider them evil.

It may be that William Bell went over to the other side to balance out the taking of Peter. That may be why he told Olivia that he might never be able to return to our side. Also, one of the writers said not to automatically assume that we're the "good guys". Other side Walter may be the one designing the hybrid soldiers, or it may be the other side's Mr Jones or Harris - or any or all of them together and others.
In one preview, the Observer (Sept) said "The boy must live".

What Walter basically told August was that for the woman not to be killed (to make up for her not dying in the plane crash), she had to be someone important - and that there would be a price for the action that made her important. August paid the price by loving her so much that he essentially died in her place. She led to the death of an Observer, and so she became important. It's just balance - one life for another.
