I prefer a steel pinky slide so I can play rhythm too. I never really got the hang of it, though. I had to learn it when I gigged in Atlanta back in the early 70's because of the Allman Brothers Band. Everyone expected you to play slide and I tried to pick up what I could, mostly from ZZ Top rather than Duane (although he da man!).

How is that solo sad? It sounds very upbeat to me.
