I prefer a steel pinky slide so I can play rhythm too. I never really got the hang of it, though. I had to learn it when I gigged in Atlanta back in the early 70's because of the Allman Brothers Band. Everyone expected you to play slide and I tried to pick up what I could, mostly from ZZ Top rather than Duane (although he da man!).

  • How is that solo sad? It sounds very upbeat to me.

Thanks for the comment! I'm from an older generation and 'sad' meant 'not too good' back then. Hope that makes sense.

  • @usafbrat50 Well, it sound a lot better than most [if not all] of the modern pop music these days. Blues music is awesome.

Thanks so much! When I lived in Atlanta in the early 70s you had to learn to play slide because of Duane Allman of The Allman Brothers. We got lots of requests for their songs when my band played in the clubs there.

  • thanks!
