Tribal leaders in Pakistan's north-west have vowed to fight back as violence escalates on the border with Afghanistan.
Recent attacks by US-led forces and Pakistan's army have jeopardised hopes of a peace deal in the region.
Al Jazeera's Kamal Hyder reports from the border region of Mohmand - the target last week, of a deadly US airstrike.

As a Pakistani. I would like to have good relations with Afghanistan. I would also like to state. There is a difference between Afghani Pukhtoon and Pakistani Pukhtoon. The Pakistani Pukhtoons are slowly being integrated into main stream culture of Pakistan & have more share in the government and army in proportion to their population. If Pakistani Pukhtoons want to separate them selves from Pak. Then it is their decision. It is not the decision of Afghani Pukhtoons.

The British could never occupy the tribal area. They were kicked out & destroyed heavily each time when they attacked this area. They sent Chapel and Lawrence to find out the reason. These stayed in tribal community for many years and learnt their life style. Finally they said that Tribal Area cant be conquered by war. These are the people who can live without a roof & food but cant resist any unjust pressure.USA must first read the books of British experts mentioned before attacking this area.

abcw828, d comes after c ,, your such a smart pakistani then how did you make dat mistake?? first of all dont mix pashtoonistan with pakistan.. pashtoonistan was never and will never be pakistan.. the people will never be one with indian Dravidian's race.. we pashtoons have our own race and that is Afghan/pashtoons.. we will never forget how you destroyed afghanistan in a excuse of helping us during soviet times. you didnt help after soviet so dat means nothing for us before soviet.

I fully agree with you on this. Pakistan will indeed will be the leader in the muslim nations with their acievements once there is political stability. Pakistan is poised to be the hub of central Asian oil export from the Arabian sea. Everyone hopes that Pakistan will concentrate on economic recovery rather than wasting its energy and resources over the likes of Taliban and its selfish aims. Stable Afghanistan is not likely to cause any problems for anybody.

To abcw828:....Just let us gain political stability & V will be one of the HOTTEST EMERGING MARKETS AROUND!! This statement you made is very insightful, you're right. The only thing that holds your country back is lack of unity. Pakistanis are highly intelligent and can compete with any country in business or technology if they r given a stable environment n economic support. Pakistan should not enter into agreements with the U.S. We have an insane President n they r taking away our freedoms.

(contd)uncivilized people you are.Pakistan elected SECULAR politicians to the parliament, which means we are a SECULAR country, unlike yours!!
