Here is a presentation of a brand of knives I have been willing to get for a long time. Fallkniven is a Swedish based knife company that has been making survival knives for the Swedish army and local hunters for the past 25 years! Their reputation is the world of wilderness survival and general outdoors poursuite has been stronger for a large number of years. I must confess I was very interested in the F1. Probably because it's the most popular of the brand and that it was created to be used by pilots of the Swedish Air Force in survival situations. I managed to grab this S1, the Forest Knife on a forum and I now understand why people are so positive about these knives.

The build quality is excellent, even the Krafton handles are confortable and are providing great traction. The blade is made of 3 pieces of laminated VG10 and comes with a razor sharp convex edge. It's bowie shape makes it the ideal knife for batoning through small logs or dressing game in the field. It normally comes with a Zythel sheath which I must confess I hate the look off. Having said that I think it is extremely practical and quite quiet for a synthetic material sheath. It is also very light and trimmed. Luckily for me the S1 also came with a gorgeous dangler leather sheath and I think it will stick to it unless I plan to hike in a dmap environment.

My overall first impressions are very good and I could not recommend you enough to for a Fallkniven if you have been hesitating like have for so long.

Thanks again for your questions and comments.

  • @Mangester1 What a moron! The head line is not in English, it's the knife's name. The presentation text is in English for my non-French speaking subscribers that enjoy my vids! Do your own videos and then you'll be allowed to make stupid remarks. Until then, stay away from this channel!

Excuse mon francais. Je le parle comme un vache espagnol!

  • the knife is actually made of vg10 laminated between two pieces of 420J there would be no point in laminating 3 pieces of vg10.

  • @Mangester1 lol asshole!

  • hi! sorry to bother you, i have a question, in between the f1 and de s1, the only difference is the size? thank you!

  • I have the Falkniven Idun in VG10, as well as the ESEE4.

I lost my Idun and it spend some month in a wet place, so the blade started rusting. I found it back, cleaned it but didnt sharpen it, and it still cuts very well dispite the awfull look it has now.

So thats reason enough to me to buy an S1 now.

  • i have an s1, great knife. vg10 is a great mixture of edge retention while still being able to maintain it with reasonable effort. I use a leather strop and stropping compound to maintain mine. nice bandaid there, the s1 sure is sharp, isn't it? haha

  • Good vid! i did`nt understand a word but i like the knife i have the S1 too :)
