Shot this video just up the beach from the Riu Emerald Bay (5 minute walk). Location is Playa Bruja in Mazatlan. Gets busy on weekends with locals. There's a restaurant on the beach but other than that no other shops. Local bus comes here and yes they allow you to bring your surfboard onboard with you. Enjoy the short video

CORRECTION to the post, there is a strip of shops just a blcok of playa brjua called the shops at Cerritos. A few food places, a great coffee shop (Looney Bean) and some other little shops. Just walk inland about a block. The Looney Bean rents surfboards.
