@xBBYDOLL23 Just remember - you are not twisting your hips. To keep the hula hoop spinning, you just have to go back and forth in a straight line. You choose the straight line - side-to-side, or front-to-back, or from front foot to back foot.
If you do twist your hips, you can do it maybe for style, but the hoop will only stay up if you are maintaining that repeated straight-line back-and-forth motion.

Many times having difficulty is because the hoop is the wrong size/weight for your body. The diameter/weight of the hoop should be selected relative to your size and experience. For the novice this usually means a hoop with a diameter that measures from the floor to between two inches above the belly button and mid-chest. The bigger/heavier (up to 2-3 lbs.) the easier for the novice to control. One guy online who is 6'4" mentioned he had a hoop with 55" diameter.
