She ended up having to have neuro-surgery 2 days later, the shot doctor said that he doubted that the shot was going to work. :( That really makes me mad, she spent 2 horrible days after the shot when they could have had the surgery and been back to normal sooner. The surgery took 3 hours to loosen up the nerve from the opening, and she's home now - feeling great! She said she has noodle leg once in awhile though.
Thanks for the answer!

continued...
She cannot have more than 4 shots a year they tell her, because she is diabetic and the steroids will mess her blood sugar too badly. She is considering just having surgery instead... any comment?

ouch did u cry?
I had one of these done over 10 years ago and swore that was the only time I would EVER let them touch my spine without sedation ! I've had several things done through my back since and I've always been sedated. I no longer believe docs if they tell me it's not that bad. The second one I had they sedated me pretty heavily so i don't remember anything from it. It lasted for a decent amount of time, but eventually ended up with surgery as my entire spine was unstable.

yeah. i agree. I think doctors will almost always tell you the procedure isn't going to be that painful to keep you calm. "you will feel a pinch" ...But man, it was harsh.

My MIL who is 67 fell and now has pinched nerves at L3, L4 and L5 which have incapacitated her for 3 weeks. She is unable to move her right leg without visible muscle spasms and pain, she actually screams if she has to move this leg.
She has been in the hospital 8 days now, and had the spinal injection yesterday, after an EMG test. When should she feel relief and how long has your relief from the shot lasted?

what does her dr say ? sounds like if she has surgery at her age, she might need a fusion. My injections did not bring much relief.
But everybody is different. A nerve block i once had gave me relief 3 days after and lasted 3 months until the spams returned. best of luck

nope. but i yelled several times. needles are inserted; fluid was forced into a space that was already blocked up. the pressure was painful, and the sciatic nerve shot strongly
