Imperial College Philosophy Society Presents:
Secularism vs Shari'a
With: Lincoln Allison vs Jamal Deen
Shari'a Law is a topic which is making headlines at least once a week. Philosophy Society will give a chance for advocates of Shari'a Law to put forward why a system of governance based on Islam is superior to that of the current system based on secular values.
Can the re-emerging heavy weight take on Secularism in today's modern society?
For Secularism we have Lincoln Allison "A freelance writer, author of 18 books, but also Emeritus Reader in Politics at Warwick University and Visiting professor in Sport and Leisure at Brighton University. Qualifications: MA Oxon, D.Litt Warwick. I've written for all the broadsheets and been on most radio 4 programmes."
For Islam we have Jamal Deen "A graduate in economics. Former contributing editor to New Civilisation Magazine, and commentator on Islamic affairs. He regularly appears on TV and radio programmes. He has delivered debates up and down the country on numerous issues relating to Islam, politics and philosophy."
