The Duke still swung when the band recorded this rare version of "Take The A Train" in 1943. In the band are all the usual guys but who is the female singer?

  • MONTAGE MUSIC!

  • @peacesellsstevebuyin You mean "voiced over" - yes indeed it was, like most music films.

  • well I'm 12 too and I know its duke ellington singing one of his most famous songs Take the A train

  • @MrTouztouz Actually Duke doesn't sing but plays the piano.

  • Most likely the singer is Helen Humes. She outlived the Duke by 7 years.

  • No it is Betty Roche.

  • I absolutely love this song!!! As soon as I heard the song, I immediately started tapping my foot. The song has been featured in quite a number of movies. I am not sure as to the title of the movies, but the song is one that I can never forget because the tune is so catchy.

  • i wish more kids of my generation would get involved in jazz band :(. they're really missing out.
