Man, I was just poking around to get a little knowledge about KYDEX® and here I find a frikn master class on the subject of working with it. Great job, for a mostly one-man-band video production, this is a great looking segment and the wealth of information shared is amazing. Thank you.

Oh...this is the second video of yours I've watched..so I have
not yet seen them all..I saw the other one about how you heat up the
press with heat gun..something I would have never thought of but makes
perfect sense..

@Vandy1212 This press gives me consistent results with two clamps, so I don't have a reason to change it.

What is the purpose of the blue tape?

@neverquit1299 I taped a dowel to the top of the gun to create the clearance for a sight channel for the front site to pass through.

Its ok to use a oven correct?
neverquit1299 3 days ago
@neverquit1299 Yes. Just follow the same slow-heating procedure.

do you find that there are any pressure differences in your press if you have the muzzle/butt rotated 90 from where you showed in the video or is it pretty even no matter which way you align the gun in there?

@chaos311clarity The pressure isn't any different, no. But I try to orient the pistol consistently so I only mash the foam in one area. This results in the unmolded areas of Kydex remaining crisp and flat. If the foam was mashed and uneven, the result would be a crisp mold in a field of wavy, messy kydex, if you know what I mean. Uneven foam can make the flat parts of the holster look kind of wrinkly, so I try to limit the area of wear in the press, if that makes sense.
