Cave crickets live in caves but come out at night to hunt. These chappies were caught with my ATC2K camera in early 2008 in the Asteriou pothole on Hymettus and in the Kopaida sinkhole in Boetia. The proximity of the crickets to the exit of the sinkhole is demonstrated at the end of the video.
I do not know which species they belong to, but most cave crickets are characterised as protected by Greek legislation. The cave crickets belong to the family of the order Orthopterans called Rhaphidophoridae and those in Greece belong to the subfamily of Dolichopodainae.
