  • is your minor a premix or surface??

  • premix. you can put different tips on the premix, which gives you different flames.

  • @porterman5051 wow. first off you need help spelling. second, he has the right kind of glasses on for this kind of lampworking. you don't need goddamn welder's shades just to work glass unless you're retarded and don't know when to take a break

  • not really anything good at the hardware store. Ordering everything off line is really the only way unless you have a glass suply shop near your house. sundanceglass,c0m is a great website with everything you could need. I would also try googling for local glass supply shops near ya. my previous "quote" does not include a real kiln tho.

  • @fourpointohh That's awesome. Can you go somewhere to buy glass blowing equipment? Like a hardware store or anything?

  • @ryno2085 i re made a 10x10ft room in my basement... dry wall, floor, ceiling, vents and lights + everything to start glass blowing/ lampwork.... 1200$

  • Thats so awesome, I wish i could do that, the equipment looks expensive though.

  • How do u like the red max? i am just getting into glassblowing and I want to get a decent torch that I will satisfy my needs for a long time ie:not want to replace

I will be mostly working with clear glass but also try marbles and sculpting I have heard good things about the major minor and red max torches but most of it is anecdotal price range under 2 grand also looking for a front loading kilm large enough for 16-19 inch tubes and bubblers

  • i used to blow glass pipes from test tubes i stole from school with a blow torch and sell them we would test every single one :) man i miss doing this i wana start again but use real equipment how much is a decent torch and were can i get Pyrex tubes

  • @Burritoast : premix has way more punch, which is necessary for things like fuming gold. Surface mix has a softer touch which is great for getting big stuff hot. Most piggy-back systems (ie: the Nortel major-minor in the video) can switch out their tips for various screw on tips, of which the variety is impressive. Single orifice vs multiple, straight or oxygenated, even wacky ribbon burners.

Carlisle torches (with a premix center fire and surface mix rings) are the standard for a good reason.
