  • Thanks for the vid. Question Im thinking about doing some melted wax in canvas. What would be the best way to glaze it, if I even need to glaze it? Thanks again.

  • @aBenDragon It seems to me the wax would repel the varnish...I have no idea what you would use, Sorry I can't help.

  • Hi! Could you help me pick a varnish? I work with acrylic paint and do mostly animals. I am not sure the shine level i should do. I hav heard mtte leaves a film or dull like look. What do you think? Love your video.

  • @foxykya1 Hello!

Matt varnish becomes dull when it is over brushed or applied when the Acrylic is not cured. You have to experiment. I did on a test piece till I found the method and medium that worked. I do contemporary art so Gloss is my answer. I can vbary the shine by the number of coats.

I like the Liqiudtex Gloss Medium varnish. Make sure your sponge is damp and just put one coat on using my method. I would experiment first on a test piece to make sure this is what you want.

Don't rule out a matt finish. I would purchase a small bottle of the Liquidtex Gloss medium and a small bottle of the Matt medium and test. You can go on line and print coupon for up to 40 per cent off at Hobby Lobby or Michaels. They Honor each others coupons. When you find the one that works buy it at dick blick and really save. These retail chains over inflate the prices beyond the standard retail price so they don't lose when you use the coupon on name brand supplies

  • They said that the sponge idea was not to be even considered. Well guess what....They were wrong! I have over 100 paintings finished including a Huge 6ft x 10ft commission and it looks FANTATASTIC! Read the rule book then throw it out cuz in art there simply are no rules....just suggestions!

  • *slurp*caffeine high!

  • I use the sponge method it is the best!

  • Thanks you Skye for the quick response. I have heard that but was not sure.

  • What do you think of epoxy resin on your acrylic paintings? For strong durability, It seems better to use epoxy resin (artresin D0T com), but that seems too expensive for me right now.

  • I went ahead and ordere the one your using from dickblick for about 11 dollars. My fingers are crossed.
