Richard Tucker sings B. Cherubini and C. A. Bixio's "Mamma, son tanto felice" which is from his 1965 Columbia album "The Soul of Italy." The album was recorded in July 1964 in Vienna with the Columbia Symphony Orchestra conducted by Nicolas Flagello.

  • the album and two of them where popular was the Exodus song, (the fabulous voice of richard tucker) and a later one called what now my love I did not like quite as well and also the Vienna operetta one in English. His thine alone and Because on old 45's where terrific

  • There was also the great one "Richard Tucker Sings Today's Great Popular Favorites/What Now My Love?"

  • But seriously: I am an Italian opera snob. This is well sung and intimate. His voice is a true tenor, and although this is "popular" he keeps the voice supported on the breath. It is a classic. And that is (from me) an ivory-towered purist. I have thought again about Tucker.

  • Great shirt, great jacket... great ears - great to hear Tucker singing this material. Thanks

  • Bravo Tucker

  • Agreed he was our great american spinto tenor, the great Tucker and in the house he was even more impressive then on studio recording

  • OUTSTANDING performance by an OUTSTANDING tenor and an outstanding MAN, too! These singers of the past can teach much about how to sing these songs properly to the singers of today IF THOSE SINGERS ARE WILLING TO STUDY AND TO LISTEN AND TO LEARN!! A performance like this, whether on record or on "The Tonight Show" or "The Ed Sullivan Show," as examples, beats the living daylights out of everything on our "talent shows" of today. Thank you VERY much for sharing this: I HAVE THE ALBUM!!!

  • It was the fabulous voice. of RT originally in 1963 when i bought it and then re named the exodus song and yes What now my love is "todays great popular favorites" but the one from 1962 the Exodus song or the fab. voice is my choice and it has you'll never walk alone, anniv. waltz, I believe, Exodus, Tonight from west side story, love is a many splendored thing, climb every mountain, softly as in a morning sunrise etc. His voice on what now my love is darker and more Baritonal, 1966

  • good point shaw damon makes. His French operas are very classic as he does not sob and never accents the way some where critical of him in Italian opera. Try Faust complete in new orleans in 1953 with di los angeles, moscona and Hoffman the met brdcst in 55 with a stellar cast stevens, amara, peters, singher he was a terrific french tenor and his don jose was also sung with great passion and no sobs not that that bothered me.

  • One of my favorite Tucker albums is when he sings pop songs. I forget the title but it is great.
