...even though the sound quality is truly dreadful with my little pocket camera - it proves that the basic idea works. 555 timer oscillators and an Atmel Microcontroller being driven from a MIDI keyboard.

The Tesla coil is a DRSSTC type, and I've cut into the oscillator control line to feed in my own signal. It's running at well under half power, as anything more really does bad things to all the electronics around it.

I need to get some kind of isolated connection going, using fiber-optics, and put the controlling electronics in a Faraday cage.

  • I feel like I should comment on this again, having just watched it on a different machine.

    I promise that this is actually making musical notes - it just sounds like it's got bad gas :-)
