  • "Regardless of your opinions on Villazon's voice, you have to admit that every single high note in this recording is flat. For those of you that know Russian, you must admit the Russian pronunciation is wrong and not a result of vowel modification for technical purposes. The obvious problem at 5:33 is a result of less obvious problems for the entirety of the aria leading up to that point - bad choices throughout the aria have tired his voice... he had no prayer of making it through that part."

  • @Ricciuto27

What can he do to rectify this?

It doesn't sound he has a very good head voice, right?

    Can he develop that?

  • Horrible, horrible production in Berlin.

Rolando's voice is as gorgeous as ever, though.

  • Sounds like Tchaikovsky, looks like Pagliacci...

  • good to hear him again, but what a terrible production.

btw who was onegin in this ?

  • @lavanessadivina That's definitely not phlegm. He sounds better than before his troubles, but he's still singing wide open and there is a lot of pressure on the chords. For me, it makes me a little uneasy listening to it.

  • COngratulations to Rollando. He deserves a great deal for such courage.. His technique is totally solid and the one blip someone else mentions is a natural part of that passagio moment when phlegm or dryness gets to a singer. Vienna is dry and it is NOT easy to just kneel and sing the hardest part of this aria. GOOD FOR YOU ROLANDO AND WELCOME BACK! WE NEED AND LOVE YOU. CV

  • At 5.33 one can hear there are still big technical problems: too much strain on the voice. I am very much afraid for this come back......
