Pink Friday Santa Maria - Iarossi speech

Speech by Nancy Iarossi, President of SMEEA (Santa Maria Elementary Education Association. Mrs. Iarossi spoke to the more than 1000 teachers and supporters who came out to show their support for public education and our brothers and sisters who commit themselves to making it work. California is ranked 48th in the nation in per pupil spending. We also rank 47th in the nation in average class size (46 states have an smaller class size average than we do). The $11.6 billion cut to education is going to mean huge changes in education. The 26,000 + pink slips handed out this March are just the beginning.
