Why do people believe more in Jesus than in Santa Claus? Is there any reason for that?

@Taught77 Aye, you see it is about "belief." If your beliefs work for you that's wonderful. However, that's different than academic proof. Any basic book on Josephus will show the Jesus lines are a fraud. There is just no evidence for a historical Jesus outside of the Bible. (Well there are some interesting accounts out of the Orient where he may have learned Buddhism). To me it's an academic question as I have my own gods, and if he existed he was simply a nice jewish boy

@ram0166 When different deities are almost identical in their characteristics and we know that their cultures were aware of each other then we can trace the origins of said myths. This is the most basic of cultural studies. I'm pagan not atheist. We look at your Jesus and the see the edited for tv version of our Dionysus, Horus and Mithras

@sammyhain13 You can't believe everything you see on Youtube. Your myth is a game of playing connect the dots with unrelated factors. Similarity in practices or teaching does not prove relationship. That's like saying everyone with brown hair is my sibling. It is an anti-intellectual reconstruction of history for the purpose of writing Christianity out of it. @ram0166 That's absolutely wrong. Christianity didn't spring up suddenly it was slowly built up upon the myths of previous death and resurrection deities. The myth has continued to evolve the early Christians wouldn't recognize the faith you practice.

@IMABeliever4Life Jesus is merely a dumbed down version of Dionysus. Turning blood into wine? Turning water into wine? Killed, eaten by his followers, then resurrected? Promises of eternal life? All Dionysus. Entire books have been published about Jesus' origins in Dionysus, Horus, and Mithras. You're getting lost in the metaphor and missing the message
