  • Scotty, how do you change serpentine belts on a 96 nissan pickup?

  • @charmscereal I just answered this in an e mail to you

  • Scotty, is belt dressing no good? I thought you said it was crap to someone, but just wanted to be sure. I've used it on my drivebelt and it stopped the squeaking momentarily, then shortly after I changed out the idler pully which I thought was the issue. It stopped for awhile, then came back though. It's so hard pinpoint exactly where it's coming from because it drives 4 acc. Any advice on snuffing it out? Thanks, Ryan.

  • @rhaydon6784 Yes, it's not good, it actually wears stuff out faster and if too much is put on it can ruin bearings on pulleys. I would put a new belt on first, new belts wear the inside grooves too deep then they make noises even though they look OK. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer Ok thanks for the quick response. I just have one more question. I was looking for a video from you on vibration while braking at high speeds and I didn't see one. Everytime I'm on the highway and I have to brake, my car vibrates like crazy. I already replaced a warped rotor, which I thought was the problem, but that didn't work....Do you think it could be out of alignment that's causing it? Ryan

  • @rhaydon6784 you have to replace rotors and brake pads together in sets of two. Start there, then check worn front end parts if that doesn't do it. Scotty

  • @cavanfamily12345 tighten the belt, or replace the auto adjuster if it has one. Scotty

  • my belt only squeeks when i start it in the morning or like everytime i start my car, but it disappears over tiem when im driving it... and i jsut changed my belt a few months ago... so what seam to be the problem scott? pls help

  • @scottykilmer: thanks that helped, now this may be silly but can u do another video on how check and fix a problem like mine or something similar thank you

  • @Snakecharmer21xx NO, never use that crap. Either one belt is not tight enough, or the pulleys they drive have a problem, like worn alternator bearings. Scotty
