UPDATE: On Dec 17,2010 investigators found three bone fragments on a South pacific island, And they found some old makeup, glass bottles, and shells that had been cut open. But in 1940 a British overseer found a human skeleton, a women shoe ,and a sextant box. I imagine how well the conversation between the Japanese government and the creators of this show went.

"Hey Japan, we think that you killed one of our pilots declared missing for a long period of time, Amelia Earhart. Can we search for the body, and if we do happen to find it, blame the entire country for it?"

No wonder they only had 12 hours. It was probably a death ultimatum.

By the way, Saipan is part of the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands, which is a US Territory. The people here mostly speak English, we live under the US flag and we are US citizens. Lots of people are not aware of that.

The Japanese jail there in Garapan is a truly spooky place too I might add. Next time I do some work out at the air port (I do environmental remediation on Saipan) and we do some digging, I will keep my eyes open for her bones.

As Lito Airfield is the current Saipan International Airport. The ruins of the Japanese jail in Garapan is supposedly where she was held. I have heard some talk around here about her. My favorite story is the one about one of the local pilots for the local Saipan-Tinian run. There was an 80 something year-old pilot with the nickname "Scary Mary" who flew single engined piper cherokees between Saipan and Tinian, who looks a little like Amelia.

WTF is that one dude talking about? Raising the plane? The military guy saw the plane, verified the number and then saw the plane burned. There is nothing to raise! It was a coverup!

Wow! Amelia Earhart was awesome! I think that Fred Newman had brought alcohol along and led Amelia Earhart off course killing them both! I also think that Amelia Earhart could be alive! The government could have changed her name and identity and stuff and she is now like 100years old! Seriously! She could live to be 100+!
