This tune has such a beautiful and somewhat haunting melody and interesting changes. I've had horn players tell me that piano players are the only ones who can solo on these changes. I don't know about that, but I do know I enjoy playing this tune. That's Ron Carter playing bass on the backing track and now I have a new respect for how much of a monster bassist he is. Those triplet figures of his make me use every ounce of concentration to figure out where "one" is. There is some controversy about this tune and it's author but I'm pretty positive that Wayne Shorter wrote this but often Miles gets credit (like in the Real Book). Whoever wrote it, it's a great tune.

  • Can someone out there tell me what kind of piano this is. The name, model #, etc.

    Thanks.

  • Ensoniq TS-12 weighted-key synth/workstation. It's a great keyboard, they don't make them anymore.

  • Lovely jam and such a sick bass. Who is that? Nice!

  • Thanks AZ.

    Ron Carter on bass.

  • Go, boy!

    You go, boy!

Nice soloing over one of the most UNDERRATED jazz standards of all time.

  • This is a great piece because the drums are basically playing a "melody". The traditional rhythm section is reversed.

  • Good stuff. A tough tune to solo over sometimes.

  • great, smooth and wonderful!

  • Dear DLuebbert: Is Artist's Transcriptions collection of solos in hardback copy and available for purchase? Where? Is Nefertiti in it?

  • can u send me the sheet?
