Mitt Romney and the Media (What if a Mormon Cured Cancer?)

(This video was made in 2007. In my estimation, as of the start of the Republican primaries in 2012, the media have not made it much of an issue this time. We'll see if that changes if Romney gets the nomination).

I'm not saying religious beliefs aren't relevant to being President, but I think Mormonism is being singled out. What candidate besides Mitt Romney has been associated so much with their religion thus far in the campaign?

I'm not LDS. In fact, I'm not religious at all, but I find it amusing to watch more traditional religions pretend that the Latter Day Saints aren't mainstream.

This video doesn't make a valid point... mormons actively fight against gay people, women's rights, and still consider black people (in their texts) as "cursed". The fact is that when we are electing someone, or even receiving healthcare from them, it's hard to be objective toward them when they themselves don't return the favor. Your video is hypocritical. You must be quite high up in the church :)

@yesblake Did you read the video description? Mormonism is a mainstream religion and shouldn't be singled out as wacky in a way that other religions like Christianity are not. Romney isn't likely to advance an anti-gay, anti-women, or anti-black agenda MORE than his evangelical Republican opponents. In fact, he's one of the few Republican Presidential candidates who talks often about the separation of church and state. BTW, I'm an atheist. I think all religious beliefs are silly.

I love it when Christians criticize Mormonism. Other branches of Christianity are merely older than Mormonism, but all the beliefs are still pulled out of someone's ass. Mormonism is just more obviously false because it is new and easier to point out how it is made up. Either way, as a Democrat I do hope that Protestant intolerance works in out favor...
