A musical due to be shown in Berlin featuring dancing stormtroopers and a singing Fuhrer has sparked controversy in Germany, with some saying that Hitler and the Nazis are no laughing matter.

@trixi87 I completely agree - like I said, my family came from there, my Grandma lived there during the 3rd reich, and she, above anyone else, was the major influence on our development growing up, even if it is thousands of miles away. We heard in-depth accounts all during our childhood (when not being read Max und Moritz and Strewellpeter)- so I know well how deeply engrained that era is in the older generation. i can understand some wanting to laugh and forget, and yeah, no judgement

When you grow up in germany, it's hard to forget about WWII, because you are reminded of it your whole life.

War happend here, so everybody has their own story 'bout it. It was a rough time for so many people, no doubt. But that's an isue for the whole older generation, not just in germany. And if people don't wanna laugh about a nazimusical (within a musical) that's ok.

What I'm realy trying to say is:

Please world, DON'T JUDGE A NATION ON ITS PAST!

@trixi87 True, but keep in mind, there are still a lot of people alive today who lived through the Nazi regime and remember Hitler from personal experience - my Grandma, who was there as a girl, almost never wanted to even speak of it. It's all well and good to laugh at your past, but...I can also see where the older generation might take offense - for them, it's not something from the history books, but a chapter from their actual lives.
