  • I completely agree... the best ever..what a music!

  • Read that Miss Caulker was Eric's girlfriend right before the Animals got big all of a sudden..which ended it.

  • the guitar break is fine!!! like to hear you do better...... love it....

  • Terrific song, one of my all time favourites... apart from the great vocals, Pricey plays some brilliant piano.

It was a pity the Animals didn't have a half decent guitarist, Valentine's cringeworthy guitar break almost ruins this great song.

  • Eric is proof a white man can sing the blues. Geordie boy but his style is one that is straight out of Memphis or the shores of the Mississipi river. Soaked in rhythm and blues, steeped in the culture and tradition of BB King, Muddy and Robert Johnson. Respect to Burdon - truly one of the greats.

  • @curtjester1 - A Geordie is a person who comes from Newcastle-on-Tyne in northern England. Have an unusal accent, but that didn't stop Eric from being in the top three (in my opinion) singers out of the UK in the 60s. They had some good ones in those days, including Steve Winwood, Van Morrison and Long John Baldry.

  • @7Vails Thanx, Vails, That's quite a elaborate accounting for such a time ago! Poor Eric, when you get famous, you have all that stuff coming back at you almost 50 years later! lol. What is a Geordie, if I may ask?

  • the notes in the introduction fall like drops of whisky

  • @rxxreeves This was origanaly the flip side to the house of the rising sun. There split had little 2do with fame It was because he was unfaithful with a girl called Aysha, If you listen to the words you will understand he wrot this as a declaration of Love hoping Dorean Caulker would go back to him.

  • @JulianThomePictures are you Julian Caulker Henrys son Doreen's beloved Nephew?

  • @rxxreeves Its the flip side of the house of the rising sun.

  • @curtjester1 Thats almost right they were famose Her name was Doreen Caulker

& she was from south sheilds but of West African Decent though moved in with Henry her brother in Ealing London.she left him when he cheated on her with a girl called Ayysha .Doreen was my best friend we meet in The Dance Centre Covent Garden (later Pinnapple) Then went to the middle East 2gether. Sadly she died circa 1988 with cancer, she never married & never forgot Eric. Doreen was a Geordie thru & thru.&Fab Person
