This is the last piece on Dr. Kevin Sharpe's piano recital that he dedicated to his niece who was recently married (Kiersten and Brett). The title of the recital was: Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue in honor of their wedding. He had four different sections. Each section's theme was one of the lines from the title poem. In the first section "Something Old" he played Joseph Haydn's Piano Sonata No. 50 Hob.XVI: 37, D Major. In the second section, "Something New," he played a very interesting selection of Children's Songs by Chick Corea. In the third section, "Something Borrowed," he played two spirituals. The first was "Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child" by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor from the 24 Negro Melodies for the piano; the second piece which was very exhilarating and very touching (it gave me goosebumps and chills) he played Margaret Bonds "Troubled Water based on the spiritual "Wade in the Water." Finally in his final section, "Something Blue," he played the piece in this video. Here is K#'s performance of George Gershwin's very well-known and difficult "Rhapsody and Blue." (Arranged for the Solo Piano by the Composer)
