Oil pollution scars Azeri peninsula - 23 Oct 08

Azerbaijan is hoping to earn hundreds of billions of dollars in the future from its oil reserves. But a large portion of those profits may be required to clean-up the environmental damage caused by the industry.

One of the most heavily polluted areas is the Absheron peninsula. From there, Hamish Macdonald reports.

it could have been a lot more beneficial for everyone but the truth is a small group of people earnt trillions while millions of others are suffering though it is their country where the oil is! It is the same situation and indeed motivation as slavery an colonialism. And I don't say that to exaggerate.
