Coconut oil when digested produces anti-fungal compounds which kills off yeast overgrowth. Dying yeast release neurotoxins which are known to cause panic attacks racing heart and "palpitations". Also coconut oil balances and usually increases the metabolic rate which after many years of suppression from a bad diet can cause a racing heart and insomnia. These symptoms will pass over time as your body flushes, heals, and balances.

I started taking coconut oil and in the first night I started feeling like I was having a panic attack, my heart was racing and beating through my chest. I was disturbed, to say the least. I am relieved to read that coconut oil kills the yeast and the neurotoxins released was the cause not any cardiac problem. I also suffered from insomnia...at least there is an explanation. Thanks so much.

@ChildOL Good news, I figured out what that thing you just incinerated is. It was a morality core they installed after I flooded the enrichment centre with a deadly neurotoxin to make me stop flooding the enrichment centre with a deadly neurotoxin, so get comfortable while I warm up the neurotoxin emitters.

What about EFA's? EFA's are short chain triglycerides (SCT's) consisting of omega-3 (ALA) and omega-6 (LA), so the body surely can burn those sooner and absorb those better as well, right? SCT's and MCT's for the win? LCT's for the lose?

@ahsoman two TBSP's at once after not using it at all is too much. You should start off the first couple days with half a TBSP in the morning, then around day 4 or 5 add another half of a TBSP in the afternoon so you're up to 1 full TBSP a day and figure it out from there. You have to build up to 2 or 3 TBSP throughout a whole day, you shouldn't start there.

@leavitt415 ... Of course if you have candida you will want to stay away from fruit juices.

You may have a deficiency in Magnesium and Potassium which is rearing it's head when your metabolism is raised by the VCO. Go easy on VCO for a while with small amounts (1 tablespoon or less) and eat foods high in potassium like potatoes, bananas, orange juice etc. and high in magnesium like swiss chard, halibut, black beans, and spinach. Stay away from calcium fortified foods when deficient because calcium can exaggerate these issues.
And of course stay away from caffeine.

@ChildOL How do you suggest building up a tolerance? I get bad heart palpitations and feel goofy when I use some coconut milk and oil -the more I use the worse it gets. Unfortunately so because I love the taste and believe in the health benefits. Thanks

This stuff Rocks!!
dumb question! does extra virgin coconut oil have to be refridgerated? i have some that i've kept in the fridge because the container said to, and its a hassle to liquefy enough to use (i cook with it as well as use it in my hair). today the lady at the vitamin shop where i buy it from said you dont have to refrigerate it, so instead of being solid it will be liquid or like a cream. but is that safe? i mean if you use as much as i do it goes quickly

It actually doesn't have to be refrigerated to be safe...the lady at your vitamin shop is right. I just keep mine in the pantry so that it stays liquefied, as that's how I like it too.
