Orser's performance was so entertaining and fun, definitely gold-medal worthy... compared to Brian's more formal interpretation. But I think that's what got Orser in the end... too many tricks and he got distracted to do the Flip and Axel cleanly. :( Too bad.

@safehaven11 Is the 2n mistake he finished after the music ended? I dont think his spins were as complete as Boitanos either. Great speed and energy though.

Boitano's performance may be better technically but his choreography is painfully boring. Orser on the other hand is a showman, skates with incredible speed and masterfully dances to the choreography. I'd take Orser over Boitano any day.

Even if he did land the triple flip, I don't think he would have won. He's a great skater though.

I like that he did a triple loop here, a jump that he never did in competition before (at least I never saw it). It is not easy to learn a whole new jump later in your career

The long programmes of Boitano and Orser that night are my all time favourties, I have watched them countless times over the years and I never ever get tired of them. Their chosen music was fab and the choreography in the two programmes was extremely well balanced and suited their music perfectly. The speed with which Brian Orser moves across the ice, beggars belief and its great to see him rink side again.

the greatest figure skating competition to date. two classy guys, both had great music, great choreography, technical ability. if only we had this level of skating today.

Did you look at Boitano's program, because he landed 1 triple axel, fell out of a triple flip, and had no triple/triple combination. He doubled his second triple axel... Boitano had 2 triple axels anda flip/toe 3/3. Orser also skated around a lot on two feet and looked down too much. We call this "beam searching' when gymnasts do it on the balance beam. It's very unattractive. Some of his positions are not good. No comparison between the two programs, he was clearly inferior to Boitano.
