Homestead Wind II 52" ceiling fan in polished brass. Beautiful fan in amazing condition, of course living up to its name moving massive amounts of air. This video shows it in three blade configurations for those who have been interested in seeing them with varying blades. Came mostly complete, even down to the original cloth pull and finial.

  • Is that the on the right corner Casablanca Spirit Of Saturn IT?It looks like it has a shorter downrod than the last Casablanca Spirit Of Saturn IT video.

  • Yup, exactly the same as it was filmed before, it's just installed up between the joists is all.

  • wait, so it has a CLOTH pullchain? all of your other fans made by homestad have a regular beaded chain!

  • This is based on the WIND though, which would originally have a cloth pull because of the way the chain is set up. The cloth pull just attaches to a standard beaded pull inside the switch housing. My black WINDs are in rough shape and I'm sure saw heavy use in their day, so the cloth pulls probably broke off or may have been cut, and beaded chain was added before I acquired them.

  • @pcdoctor2 No, because with 3 blades it spins faster as there is less weight and in 6 blades it spins slower as there is more weight so they blow the same amount of air in different blade configuration. Reply if you don't understand! :)

  • That's close, but technically speaking, 6 blades does move less air because of the added motor strain and because more blades "chop" the airstream more, interrupting the flow to an extent. It's just whether the human body can sense that or not, and with Homestead it's very difficult to tell a difference because their fans are freakin' powerful in any configuration.

  • That's pretty much the case with all 6-blade Homestead fans. They were very ingenious with their placement of holes on the motor, as well as with bracket spacing.

  • I like how you can change the blades from 3 to 4 and 4 to 6 just like the other black fan.

  • The whole thing is certainly very near mint, just slightly less use and it would be mint. I'm just glad I got to it before the switch cap/plate got all scratched up. I love this combo too, Homestead had such a rich polished brass finish and their wood finish blades are among the most gorgeous ever made.

  • Yeah, I'll give you a half point since the downrod and canopy were still up. ;-)
