Award-winning playwright and actor Wallace Shawn joins us in our firehouse studio. He has just published a new collection of nonfiction work titled Essays. Shawn is a mainstay on the New York theater scene. Hes also had celebrated roles in many films, including Manhattan, The Princess Bride, the 1981 cult classic My Dinner with Andre, and many more. Shawn reads an excerpt of his essay The Quest for Superiority and discusses the role of media in covering war.

when he is reading this it just reminds me of a dinosaur but in a good way

(continued) were hiking round and round all keeping one another's tails from dragging on the ground. They felt proud to be so special except Zooie Katzen-bein who was the last cat in line. No one was left to carry her tail. Zooie was awful mad, and she did a brave thing. She yelled, "I quit!" and slammed the tail of Prooie Katz on the ground. Then all the other cats did the same thing until each cat held its own tail.

As a "recovering centrist" you were already halfway there! Great reading! Great thinking! I've never been to one of those "expensive" restaurants; only heard stories from my brother, who is a professional waiter. Interesting to hear his politicized rants about 'privilege' confirmed by a third party.
