"Sunday Today" segment by Garrick Utley on the business of television network news...with interviews with Walter Cronkite, Tom Brokaw, Peter Jennings and Dan Rather. Part 1 of 2
This was before Brokaw turned the NBC Nightly News over to Brian Williams back in 2004.
Williams at the time was at CBS-owned WCAU in Philadelphia (now an NBC O&O).
Katie Couric was promoted to NBC News from affiliate WRC, and she was Washington correspondent. Now, Couric replaced Dan Rather.
Charlie Gibson not only anchored GMA, but also Jennings substitute. Now, Jennings died of lung cancer in 2005; then Gibson retired last year, and Diane Sawyer (Gibsons co-anchor for GMA) takes over WNT
This is the neatest opening.
